Why this service exists

Equipment that carries you deserves proper care

Mobility equipment works hard. It goes everywhere you go, in all weather, and the parts that need attention most are usually the hardest to reach.

Hygiene

Regular professional cleaning helps reduce the dirt and residue that builds up in frequently used equipment, particularly around hand rims, controls, seating and footplates.

Equipment care

A thorough clean is also a proper look over the equipment. Taking parts off means noticing things — a loose fitting, a worn tyre — that are easy to miss day to day.

Comfort

Clean, fresh equipment simply feels better to use. No odour, no sticky rims, no grit in the castors. It can make a real difference to everyday comfort and confidence.

Routine care

A professional clean around every three months can form part of an ongoing equipment-care routine, alongside the everyday wiping down you already do.

What a deep clean involves

Taken apart, cleaned properly, put back together

A surface wipe only reaches what you can already see. A professional clean means dismantling the equipment so the frame joints, bearings, seams and fittings can all be reached.

Step one

Equipment is assessed as it is, so we know what needs the most attention.

Step two

Wheels, castors, footplates and cushioning come off so every surface can be reached.

Wheelchair components laid out and being cleaned with a professional steam cleaner.
Step three

Components are cleaned and steam sanitised, including the joints and seams a cloth cannot reach.

Step four

Everything is dried, reassembled, checked over and handed back ready to use.

Services

What we clean

One visit covers the full clean, from taking the equipment apart to putting it back together. Bringing more than one item into the same visit works out better value.

Single item

One wheelchair or item of equipment

  • About 90 minutes
  • Invoiced after the visit

A complete clean of one wheelchair, scooter, commode, shower chair or similar piece of equipment, in your home.

  • Dismantling and reassembly
  • Deep clean and steam sanitation

  • Seating, backrest and contact surfaces
Best value · two or more items

Multiple items, one visit

  • Time scaled to the number of items

  • Applies to each item in the same visit
  • One appointment instead of two
  • Useful for households with several items

What we can clean. Manual and powered wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, shower chairs, commodes, shower trolleys, hoists and electric bed frames. If your equipment is not listed, ask us — most mobility equipment can be cleaned.

No online payment. This website never asks for card details. An invoice is issued after the work is complete, made out to you or to your plan manager as appropriate.

Funding

National Disability Insurance Scheme NDIS funding accepted

Using NDIS funding for your clean

This is the question we are asked most often, so here is a plain answer: many participants can use their funding for equipment cleaning, but it depends on how your particular plan is written.

Cleaning is commonly funded through consumables, under repairs and maintenance, or as Low-Cost AT. If you are not sure, your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm it in a couple of minutes — and Kerry is happy to talk it through with you first.

  • Plan-managed An invoice is issued directly to your plan manager. You do not need to pay anything yourself.
  • Self-managed You receive the invoice and claim it through the NDIS portal in the usual way.
  • Agency-managed Arrangements vary. Get in touch and we can work out what is possible for your plan.
  • Aged care packages Some home care packages cover equipment cleaning. Your provider can tell you whether yours does.
  • Private clients No funding involved? That is fine — the same service, invoiced directly to you.

Ongoing care

Make professional cleaning part of your equipment-care routine

Kerry recommends a professional clean roughly every three months. In between, the everyday care you already do is enough to keep things in good shape.

  • In between, wipe down the surfaces your hands use most
  • Clear debris from castor wheels when you notice it
  • Mention anything that feels loose or worn at your next clean

The person doing the work

You will be dealing with Kerry

Wheely Clean Mobility is run by Kerry, who travels to clients across Perth and does the cleaning herself. There is no call centre, and no rotating roster of strangers turning up at your door.

Clients tend to mention two things: that she is thorough, and that she knows how to take equipment apart and put it back together correctly. Both matter when the equipment is something you depend on daily.

Common questions

Questions people ask before booking

How much does a clean cost?

Cost depends on the equipment and how many items are cleaned in the same visit. Cleaning two or more items together works out better value than booking separate appointments. Get in touch or start a booking and Kerry will confirm the cost with you before any work goes ahead — nothing is charged through this website.

How long does a wheelchair clean take?

Around 90 minutes for one wheelchair. That allows time for the equipment to be taken apart properly, cleaned, steam sanitised and, where needed, dried before it goes back together.

How often should equipment be professionally cleaned?

Kerry recommends a professional clean roughly every three months, with normal day-to-day wiping down in between. Equipment that is used heavily, outdoors or in wet areas may benefit from more frequent attention.

Can NDIS funding be used for cleaning?

Many participants are able to use their funding for equipment cleaning, commonly through consumables under repairs and maintenance, or Low-Cost AT. Whether it applies depends on how your individual plan is written, so it is worth confirming with your plan manager or support coordinator before booking. Kerry can supply an invoice for plan-managed and self-managed arrangements.

Do I pay online?

No. There is no payment step on this website and no card details are ever requested. Kerry sends an invoice after the work is done, made out to you or to your plan manager as appropriate.

What equipment can be cleaned?

Manual and powered wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, shower chairs, commodes, shower trolleys, hoists and electric bed frames. If you have something not on that list, ask — most mobility equipment can be cleaned.

Do you come to my area?

The service is mobile across the Perth metropolitan area. For regional or remote parts of Western Australia, get in touch with your location and Kerry will let you know what can be arranged.

How do I book?

Choose a time on the booking page, or send an enquiry and Kerry will come back to you with available times. You do not need an account and you do not need to pay anything to secure a booking.

What should I do between professional cleans?

Normal everyday care is enough: wipe down the parts your hands touch most, keep the seat and backrest fabric dry where you can, and clear debris out of the castor wheels when you notice it. The three-monthly professional clean handles the parts that are difficult to reach.

Can several items be cleaned at the same appointment?

Yes, and it is usually the most practical way to do it. Bundling items into one visit means one appointment to arrange and a lower rate per item.

Still unsure about something? Send Kerry a question — there is no obligation.
